Since it’s release on the 23rd of March 2017 Pubg, the Battle Royale pioneer has managed to get over 10.000.000 buys. As a gamer I couldn’t be happier just as I couldn’t be happier that Pubg already has competition.
Just 4 days after the launch of Fortnite: Battle Royale, after countless skirmishes on the island the dust seems to have settled and we can get a pretty clear picture. The only Battle Royale game available for consoles (both PS4 and XboxOne) is performing admirably, said Epic Games. The developer has released numbers that confirm waaaay over 1 million downloads and that number can only go up given that console gamers were dying to get their own Battle Royale.
Now that we’ve had a chance to take a shot at it we can confirm that the game certainly has appeal and even though certain elements are similar to Pubg, it is a completely different game/experience.
The game’s cute and cuddly look no longer makes you feel at ease the moment some other cute and cuddly character tries to bash your brains in with a pick-axe. Yes, it is a Battle Royale, yes, you parachute onto an island along with 99 other players where you scavenge and kill, but that is where similarities to Pubg end.
The crafting is an absolute game changer as it allows for a huge variety of tactics while also granting you the ability to reach the top of cliffs or buildings, cross rivers. Squads with good knowledge of the game’s mechanics that also work well together have the time of their life changing the battlefield on the spot and getting the upper hand.
More than 1000000 players can’t be wrong. Hopefully Epic Games keeps working on it, vehicles are going to be extremely fun to use (whenever that happens), so all we can say is that most citizens of the Empire Of Nerds approve. See you on the island!
